Abstract:
Out of the somber gray limbo that fills the screen, a mountain appears through the mists. The Canyon comes alive with creatures large and small: cougar, mule dear, big horn sheep, desert tortoise, scorpions, lizards, and the rare Kaibab squirrel. Descending into the Canyon by mule, we encounter a lightning storm, raft the Colorado river, glimpse ghosts of the ₁ancient ones,₂ the Anasazi, and chance onto a flash flood. Shaman₂s Gallery, thought to predate the time of Christ and never before filmed, is shown. A mountain lion pursues mule deer, a king snake captures a cactus mouse, and desert shrimp appear in a pond that has been dry for months.
